Introducing the deep line of Antos

Portugal's DJ Vibe is currently working under a new pseudonym.
We've been talking about Antos, the new alias, surf and about near future...

How are you doing during the quarantine?

I'm doing ok, I've been more focused during the confinement, finishing some tracks and creating others around my new project . Also it was the first time in 20 years I cleaned my record collection.

Tell us about this new alter ego and this new release?

This new alter ego called Antos means Antonio in Greek. That's why I chose the name and it also has a beautiful meaning, which is "flower".

A good formula for this new project: more spiritual indie deep house. In fact this new release is the first signed under the name of Antos.

Dj Vibe will continue, but under the new pseudonym, will create a new universe with a new rhythm of an Indie, Deep Dance & Psychedelic style. "That’s why I didn't want to sign under the name 'Vibe', because these are new stories. Actually this new parallel adventure starts with an EP “Salve” released on Do Not Sit On The Furniture label, by my friend, Dj Behrouz which is the perfect label to release it. This Ep has two tracks , "Salve '' and "Delek '', both titles taking inspiration from a Portuguese and Tibetan greetings: a perfect introduction to this new project.

Tell us more about the new projects or next future releases?

Meanwhile, I released another EP under the name Dj Vibe. Last year the producer Sebastian Emanuel invited me to collaborate. He works for the Session Womb also.

When we finished the track, he put it to the Label Manager and last December, when I went to Tokyo to play at Womb Club they told me they really wanted to release the track.

I just said, let's do it! This record then came out on Sessions Womb label from Tokyo and includes a Drunken Kong remix, a proper techno bomb!

Recently I also did a remix for the Spaniard Dj Ino, to be included in his new album celebrating his 20 year career.

"As Antos, I just finished a remix for Magu Pi for Lisbon's Sururu Records, the label of Tó Ricciardi. These will be released in the next two months.

We heard that you're back to surfing, after a while, how do you feel with that in this unprecedented time?

Ahaha you are well informed, it's true. It's been a while since I've surfed. Last week was a surfing day but unfortunately the sea was strong and I didn't manage to get in. We have already booked another surfing day and this time I hope the sea is better. I really want to surf some waves.

Also - can you tell us how you feel about what’s coming next after this?

It was important that everyone had a conscience during this period that we are going through. It can be the start of a new era with regard to our night industry of course, but not only that. I think we should look more into ourselves, think about our musical identity, what's going on locally with music and musical creativity in Portugal.

We have huge potential out there, and some don't realise it.

In artistic terms, local promoters of both festivals and clubs have more international artists in their line ups and really need to recognise the talent that we have here at home and be more bold to support it.
